Salt Plant

I don't post very often, but I thought I'd share some plants that are growing in my salt water tank. They have been slowly growing out from my live rock and I think they look pretty cool. Oddly enough, my tangs have not completely decimated it, although they have eaten some of the nodules.



Like I said, I didn't put it there and have no clue what it is, but that is true of most of the stuff in the tank, like the sponges, fireworms and starfish.

That looks really nice! I wonder if it's the same thing that one of the early AAPE member was growing. Hmm, gonna have to search for that thread and compare :)

It looks like caulerpa mexicana. Definitely a caulerpa. Very nice looking.

Do you have any peppermint shrimp in the tank? I ask because you have some Aptasia anemones in that mix of caulerpa and the can be pests. They grow like wildfire.

I've tried to add peppermint shrimp, but haven't had much luck with inverts surviving long term. Three in a row that I put in there have just disappeared, so they could be alive and hiding, but I doubt it. The fish are doing fine and I just added four more a month ago.

Hippo Tang, Naso Tang and three green chromis. I tried to add the inverts prior to adding the naso and chromis.

As a whole, the tank is fairly disappointing right now, but I'm planning on posting some pics of my fresh water tanks soon.

Looks like Caularpa racemes.

Wish I had the 180 reef and the aquaculture books.

This is really nice looking plant you have, wish I also have a saltwater tank. Your plant really growing nice.
